Tangible (SEAT × Vhils) — Sculptures work, 2018, Cascais, Portugal

Tangible marked Vhils' first permanent sculpture in public space. Developed over the course of a year and unveiled in October 2018 on the waterfront at Cascais Marina, the work was commissioned by SEAT Portugal to mark the company's fifteenth anniversary. Built from cement, fibreglass and silicone on a steel armature and weighing roughly 15 tonnes, its form originates in the contours of the SEAT Arona, the vehicle gradually dissolving into architectural volumes before resolving into a human eye. Conceived by the artist as a contemporary fossil, Tangible imagines the material legacy of the present from the perspective of a distant future. The project was developed in the orbit of the Underdogs platform and the future Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art in Cascais (MARCC).
