Sentinela honours António Gonçalves Ribeiro, the lifeguard known as Tarzan da Caparica, credited with saving more than 300 people over five decades on the beaches of Costa da Caparica. Based on a photograph taken in 1964, Vhils carved his portrait into the façade of a building on one of the main routes to the coastline, in the municipality of Almada. The work celebrates a life defined by civic responsibility, tying Ribeiro's actions to the identity of the place. Completed in early April 2026 and commissioned by GDMA – Reabilitação e Construção, it extends Scratching the Surface toward public recognition rooted in local history.
