Dubai Walls

This mural, part of the Dubai Walls initiative at City Walk, Al Wasl, in 2016, is based on some of the region's earliest known photographs of the Bedouin communities who lived here before its rapid urban development. Vhils excavated the portraits into the building's façade, bringing overlooked histories back into public view beneath Al Wasl's transformation. The work sets the pace of Dubai's urban growth against the lives that preceded it.
