Art from the Streets — 2018, Singapore, Singapore

Art from the Streets was a group exhibition at the ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, from 13 January to 3 June 2018, tracing more than forty years of street art from its countercultural origins to its place in contemporary art. Curated by Magda Danysz, the show gathered around 200 works across six sections by artists including Banksy, Shepard Fairey, JR, Futura, Invader, Felipe Pantone and Vhils, spanning paintings, installations, videos, archives and on-site commissions. Vhils (Alexandre Farto) was represented by works built on the removal of surface layers, including Fondations [Foundations] (2017), made from advertising posters recovered from the street, hand-cut and carved, alongside documentation of his carved wall portraits such as a 2012 mural in Shanghai.
