Iberian Suite – Installation: A Journey of the Imagination — 2015, Washington, D.C., United States

For the 2015 festival "Iberian Suite: Global Arts Remix," Alexandre Farto (Vhils) created the installation "Perspectiva / Perspective" in the Hall of Nations of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Suspended from the ceiling at varying heights, hundreds of white paper sheets align to form the word "FREEDOM" when seen from a single marked viewpoint, then dissolve and scatter as the viewer steps to the side, forward, or back. The work was one of three pieces grouped under "A Journey of Imagination" alongside installations by Manuela Pimentel and Nuno Vasa, and it was on view from March 4 to 22, 2015, within a festival devoted to the cultures of the Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking world.
