48 artistas, 48 anos de liberdade — Walls work, 2022, Lisbon, Portugal

48 artistas, 48 anos de liberdade was a collective mural made on 10 June 2022 at the MAAT Gardens, Lisbon: a 24 × 3 m re-enactment of the Painel do Mercado do Povo, painted in Belém on the same date in 1974 by the Movimento Democrático dos Artistas Plásticos to mark the end of 48 years of dictatorship, destroyed by fire in 1981. In 2022, with the same number of creators (48) and 48 years of democracy completed, the panel was reinterpreted, including nine original painters — David Evans, Emília Nadal, Eurico Gonçalves, Guilherme Parente, José Aurélio, Lima Carvalho, Sérgio Pombo, Teresa Dias Coelho and Teresa Magalhães. Curated by António Brito Guterres, Alexandre Farto (Vhils), Carla Cardoso and João Pinharanda; co-organised by Fundação EDP / MAAT, Iminente festival and Underdogs, under the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic, as part of Lisbon's programme marking 50 years of the Carnation Revolution.
