Empty Faces (Street Intervention, 2007)

A female face carved and torn from layers of wheat-pasted street posters on a low roadside wall in Portugal, photographed as a car passes. Neighbouring posters — the play Tanto Amor Desperdiçado and a Hacienda Klub club night dated Saturday 22 September — are consistent with the artist's photograph filename 'Cartazrua' ('street poster'), dated 15 September 2007, dating the intervention to 2007. It belongs to the early Empty Faces group of street interventions published on the artist's Cargo Collective portfolio, distinct from the framed Empty Faces Series studio works of the same period.
