Untitled Billboard Street Intervention — Johnston Road

Now destroyed, the untitled carving Vhils cut into a commercial hoarding on Johnston Road, Wan Chai, in December 2015 was among his earliest engagements with Hong Kong's visual environment — a district where historic streetscapes sit beside a constantly changing commercial landscape. Installed within an advertising structure built for constant replacement, the work let disappearance become part of its own logic, absorbing the hoarding's short lifespan into the piece itself. It belongs to a wider series of Hong Kong billboard interventions in which Vhils reconfigured commercial supports across the city.
