Vhils' portrait on the grain silos of the Port of Catania (Via Domenico Tempio, Sicily) faces the Mediterranean and measures roughly 30 × 64 m. Created in October 2015 for Emergence Festival, commissioned by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro Italia e Mediterraneo and curated by 999contemporary. Carved through Vhils' subtractive process, the portrait emerges from the concrete while the silos keep their industrial character, shifting attention from the port's cargo to the lives that pass through it. The seaward face was still intact as of late 2025, though a port demolition process opened that year should be watched.
