CRONO Festival — Walls work, 2011, Lisbon, Portugal

On Rua Cascais, Lisbon, in February 2011, Vhils carved a wall work for the inaugural edition of CRONO – Projecto de Arte Pública, a public-art initiative that brought international and Portuguese artists into vacant buildings and overlooked urban spaces through temporary interventions. The piece embraced the festival's commitment to impermanence and has since disappeared. Its removal reflects the project's premise: that public art can hold significance through a specific moment, place and community without needing to last. The work was among the earliest produced within CRONO, helping establish Lisbon as a context for Vhils' international recognition.
