Debris was Vhils's first large-scale solo exhibition in Hong Kong, presented by the Hong Kong Contemporary Art (HOCA) Foundation at Pier 4, Central Harbourfront, 21 March – 4 April 2016. Alongside carved doors, styrofoam sculptures and LED-panel works reflecting on the city's saturated visual landscape, the show presented a video installation of the artist's explosion films — wall carvings created by pyrotechnic detonation, captured in extreme slow motion. NOWNESS documented the exhibition in an official film.
