Les Ateliers du Vent (59 Rue Alexandre Duval, Rennes), a former industrial site turned into one of the city's leading independent centres for artistic production, hosted Vhils's contribution to the inaugural Teenage Kicks Biennale in September 2013. Conceived by the festival's founders to put internationally recognised urban artists into dialogue with both public space and the exhibition context, the show challenged the divide between street and gallery. Vhils worked directly with the building's weathered surfaces, letting them act within the piece. He exhibited alongside Boris Tellegen, Honet, Sozyone and Olivier Kosta-Théfaine, in an edition that expanded Teenage Kicks internationally while keeping his subtractive practice tied to the culture it comes from.
