Rice cultivation in the wetlands of Salreu gives D. Florinda its historical centre. Created in September 2017 for ESTAU, at Rua Doutor Dionísio de Mouro 73, Estarreja, the portrait honours a farmer who, with her husband, Sr. Rola, kept traditional rice-field methods alive as that knowledge neared disappearance. On a prominent gable, it gives public scale to labour usually embedded in the landscape and absent from official representation. The wall's resistant layers echo the endurance the work commemorates: both shaped by repetition, pressure and time. Listed as a point of interest on the Grande Rota da Ria de Aveiro and confirmed extant through community sightings in 2025, the portrait ties Vhils' practice to the preservation of living heritage.
