Last September Vhils returned to Paris to work on two new wall pieces. The first was created in the scope of the Embellir Paris project, an effort by the municipality to improve through art the ongoing renovations in the area surrounding the Lariboisière Hospital, which also serves as a maternity, in the 10th arrondissement.

The project consisted in carving the portrait of an anonymous young woman, adding a poetic touch to a previously decaying area, which will stand for future generations as a reflexion on our relationship with the cities we live in and the layers that we are all made of.

The second project took over a large grey wall at La Défense, the largest central business district in Europe, home to the headquarters of some of the biggest multinational companies operating in France. Created for Urban Week 2019, a festival of street art and culture that seeks to inject cultural value into the neighbourhood, the large-scale mural located near the iconic Grande Arche de la Défense depicts two anonymous faces, harmoniously combined with geometrical motifs, calling the attention of passers-by in a bid to humanise the area.
