Visual Street Performance 2007

The 2007 edition of Visual Street Performance, a Lisbon group exhibition and event series that gathered the city's graffiti and street-art scene through the mid-2000s, was held at the Fábrica do Braço de Prata, a former munitions factory in Marvila. By his own account, it was here that he made his first carved wall — a portrait cut into a painted panel, the origin of the 'scratching the surface' technique underlying his later practice. A related carving on a rendered street wall outside the factory dates from the same moment. The VSP series began in 2005 at the Interpress building in Bairro Alto, with a second edition there in 2006, before this Braço de Prata edition.
