Alter Ego — The Self / O Eu was the visual-arts highlight of the I Exposição Anual de Artes entre a China e os Países de Língua Portuguesa, held in Macau 9 July – 9 September 2018. Co-curated by Vhils and Pauline Foessel, organised by the Instituto Cultural de Macau with support from the Secretaria para os Assuntos Sociais e Cultura and MGM COTAI as special partner, it brought together 27 artists from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, China, Guinea-Bissau, Hong Kong, Macau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste across six venues, including the Museu de Arte de Macau, plus public-art interventions at MGM COTAI Spectacle and Vhils' Camilo Pessanha mural at No. 12 Praça Ponte e Horta.
